Day 18: Half Moon (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

Half moon manicure is not a new nail art trend. In fact it used to be just bare nail bed on the "moon" part and one shade of polish for the rest of the nail bed. For modern half moon manicure, it is best done using 2 contrasting colors. This will make both colors stand out. Others also use a combination of glitter polish and crème polish.

For today's challenge, I used 2 China Glaze polishes. For my base color, I used 2 coats of China Glaze Swing Baby. I already used this polish in my Day 8: Metallic Nails Challenge. I used 2 coats of China Glaze Rich & Famous on top of it. It's the perfect pink polish for me. It is not to pale and not too bright. Although, layering it with Swing Baby made it look a litter darker. I've tried using it just by itself and it never fails to make me happy everytime I use it.

I used stencils in achieving this design.  The combination of metallic and crème polishes makes this Half Moon manicure glamorous.

Day 12: Stripes (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

I used a striper to do today's challenge. It is L.A. Colors Art Deco in NA901-White. Actually, this is the only striper that I have. If you don't have a striper polish, you can also use a regular art or makeup brush.

I started with China Glaze Secret Periwinkle for the base color. Then I put diagonal stripes on each of my nails. For easier lines, what I do is I keep the brush still and then I just slightly move my finger to do the diagonal line. Here's how it looks:

I also decided to put a coat of Top of my World for a more fab look. Top of my World is from Nicole by O.P.I. Justine Bieber collection. It is a clear polish with blue holographic glitters. Pardon the picture because I'm not able to bring out the best look of the polish.
