Glymm - February 2013

What is Glymm?
Glymm is a beauty subscription service that provides you with 4-5 product samples each month. Right now, the monthly subscription price is CAD$15.00. It is currently available in Canada. I subscribed to Glymm on November 2012. I signed up for a yearly membership with the PolishMeUp Promo. My yearly subscription is only $120 which turns out to be just $10/month + tax.
What is the PolishMeUp Promo?
This promotion is available at that time for customers who would get the yearly membership. So aside from the products that you would get each month, you would also get 1 full sized nail polish in your box. This is actually the main reason why I subscribed to Glymm, the free nail polish!
February Box
I received my box on March 5th. Before, Glymm shipped the boxes on the week of the 10th of each month and I used to receive the box every 3rd week of the month. But due to recent changes, they started shipping at the end of the month and that's the reason why I received the box on March. I really don't mind if I don't get my February box in February. As long as I'm getting my box for every month, I'm good. Usually the bags are just plain color, but for February's bag, it has some heart prints on it. It looks cute but it's not something that I want to put on my purse because the design is just not me. I would probably use this at home to organize some of my stuff.

There is also a product catalog for each bag. This is where you will see some quick information about the products that you received for the month. For the February box there is also a discount card included. All Glymm members can get 50% off for ShinySet Subscription. This is not something that I'm going to use as I am not interested in jewelry subscription service. I also got a hear-shaped lollipop. It's probably for Valentine's Day but because the box came the month after, it didn't get the chance to do it's purpose, lol!

Product Reviews
Femme Couture Monster Gloss Super Shine Lipgloss
I got the shade in Angel Kisses. I absolutely love the scent of this gloss. It smells so sweet and smells like vanilla. It's a clear gloss with pink micro glitters which is perfect if you want a subtle look on your lips. What I don't like about this product is the packaging. It's like a jumbo stick with a ridiculously sized applicator.

Purely Pro Eye shadow
I got a matte taupe eye shadow. This shade is called Luxury. It is very pigmented so a little product goes a long way. I'm not really a makeup person but I appreciate getting this type of products in my bags because I also like trying out new products. This shade is something that I can use because it's just right for my skin tone.

Villainess Ginger Snapped Bar Soap

Based on the packaging, the scent of this is a slightly psychotic blend of sweet cinnamon, rich cardamom, spicy ginger and a faint touch of innocent vanilla. The soap smells really nice but when I tried using it the smell goes away. When I dried my hands I can hardly smell the product. The scent is not like the one that you could smell in the product itself.  I would've appreciated it more if it actually leaves the nice scent on my skin.

NailUV Gel Polish
I wasn't really excited when I saw this product. I have never tried gel polish and I don't think I'll be interested in trying it out. I like doing my nails and changing polish color at least once a week and the fact that gel polish stays for at least 2 weeks doesn't entice me. The color that I got is called Berry Sweetie. It is a pink shimmer polish. The smell is strong too. I don't know if that's really how gel polishes smell like. I have a swatch of it at the end of the post.

The New Black Nail Polish
I got 2 polishes this month. The first shade is a red jelly with red micro glitters. The second one is a lavender crème nail polish. I don't have any information about the name of the polishes. The New Black nail polish  are packaged in a tiny bottle and are usually sold in packages of 3. I'm supposed to get 1 full sized nail polish but because The New Black polishes are small, I got 2 polishes instead. I'm happy with the shades that I got and I will definitely use them.

These are the swatches for the polishes that I got this month. The first 2 swatches starting from the left are The New Black polishes while the one at the right is the swatch for Nailuv Berry Sweetie.

Overall, I'm impressed with this month's box. I'm excited to use the lipgloss and the polishes. Glymm's February bag also has some full sized products which is great. The bag is definitely more than $10 which is the price of my subscription

Day 7: Black and White (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

For today's entry, I used tape manicure technique to show the 2 colors, black and white. I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On as my base color. This is 2 coats of White On:

Day 6: Violet Nails (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

It's day 6 and I have some Violet nails for you guys!
For today's challenge I used 2 polishes from Icing by Claire. Icing by Claire is the second brand of Claire which is targeted for customers 18 and up. Claire is actually targeted for teens and they have some kid's stuff too.
Icing by Claire has some really cool stuff. From purses, accessories, make-ups and of course, nail polishes! I have some of their glitter polishes. They have a lot of exciting and fun shades to choose from. The first polish that I used for today's entry is called Exotic Orchid. This is 2 coats of the polish:

Day 4: Green Nail (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

I have a gorgeous green polish for day 4. This is Holly by Zoya. It's like an emerald with a metallic finish. I don't really like the color green but I fell in love with this color in an instant. I can't stop looking at it especially with direct light because of it's really nice color. This is 2 coats of Zoya Holly:

Day 3: Yellow Nails (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

Hi there!

For Day 3, I used a yellow creme polish from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear line. This one is called Mellow Yellow. It's the right shade of yellow best suited for my skin tone. It's not too bright and at the same time it's not too pale for my skin tone.

I don't like how the picture turned out because the lighting is a bit darker that yesterday. I definitely need to play around with the lighting to get the best color-correct shot possible.

This is 2 coats of Mellow Yellow:

The first three posts for my 31-Day Challenge is a bit boring because it's just about one color and I am just swatching a nail polish as my entry. I'm really excited in doing the next challenges and do something different to spice up this blog!.

I'll see you on Day 4!

Day 2: Orange Nails (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

For Day 2, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed. Sally Hansen is my favorite drugstore brand. I like their cuticle care products and the Gem Crush Collection too! Their nail polish formula is really good. I bought this Sun Kissed nail polish 10 months ago and the formula is still good. I noticed some other brands where you'll notice an oil accumulating at the top of the bottle even though I bought a brand new one just a few months ago. The only thing that I don't like about the Xtreme Wear line is the "xtremely" narrow brush. I have wide nail bed that's why I need wider brushes to apply nail polish evenly.

Here's 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed:

Day 1: Red Nails (31-Day Nail Art Challenge)

I will be doing the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. I honestly don't know who created this challenge but this has been around for a long time now. I also saw a lot of bloggers who did this challenge.

This is the overview of the whole challenge:

31 day nail art challenge

To start of the challenge, I decided to use a luscious red shade from Essie called Russian Roulette. This is my favorite red creme polish so far.

So that makes my first official "nail art" post in my blog. I'm looking forward to learn something more to improve my blog. I am definitely open for constructive criticisms.

I'll see you on Day 2!
